August 2016 - Praises & Prayer Requests

Praises at ACT UT

Summer activities have kept us very busy at Active Christians Today at the University of Toledo. The summer break has meant more “off-campus” events while at the same time planning to return to a regular schedule this Fall.

We praise God for the many students have returned from home to say “hi” and join in at our activities. The fun and fellowship has been contagious.

We continue to praise God for our ACT students and leaders who returned in July from a mission workcamp in West Virginia. A group of 25 high school youth, university students and adults traveled from Northwest Ohio to help the needy in Jackson County, West Virginia. It was a powerful week and many lives were changed.

Our Friday nights we call “In the Woods with Jesus” and they have been full of fellowship and fun and sometimes a little excitement. Even a thunderstorm one evening may have poured down an abundance of rain but it didn’t dampen our spirits.

A night of watching baseball at Fifth Third Field with the Toledo Mud Hens was another great time to enjoy savoring our brotherhood and sisterhood in Christ. Fun was had by all!

Prayer Requests at ACT UT

Our hearts and minds are now preparing for the mission field that is the university campus. All summer our students have been meeting and greeting prospective students through the University of Toledo “Rocket Launch.” This is another way we are able to reach out and let students know about ACT and to find a safe “home away from home” at UT.

Our student leadership has already begun praying, meeting and organizing for the fall. Student leadership is vital to the growth and future of ACT. We ask for prayers for the students as they juggle huge workloads between jobs, studies and ACT. We are praying that we can be the respite in the storm around them .

As always, we truly thank you for your prayers!

July 2016 - Praises & Prayer Requests

Praises at ACT UT

Summer vacation hasn’t stopped ACT activities! We have been meeting weekly in fellowship but also planning and getting set for a great fall semester. We praise God for all He has done through our ministry this past year and the foundation He has built for the future.

Three ACT UT students along with the Weaver family have just returned home from “Brothers’ Keeper” which is a workcamp mission ministry based in Ripley, West Virginia helping disadvantaged families with basic construction and repair work in their homes. This includes building wheelchair ramps, porch construction, painting, drywall repair and more.

We have much to be thankful for as we welcomed the Williams family in June. Don Williams moves into the seat vacated by Dave Warner as the ACT BG Campus Pastor. We now have a fascinating situation in which the campus pastors of UT and BG are alumni of the opposite university where they now serve. This will make for a very invigorating and fun UT versus BG football game this fall!

We praise God that the Williams family arrived safely from Colorado. They were greeted by a large moving crew that helped them quickly unload their belongings and get them settled in Perrysburg.

Prayer Requests at ACT UT

Our summer ministry continues with our weekly “In the Woods with Jesus” which includes a campfire, devotional and games for students every Friday night all summer long.

Continue to pray for our UT students participating in “Rocket Launch.” Many days this summer our students are greeting new students at the University of Toledo. It is a great opportunity to let them know about ACT and to find a safe “home away from home” at UT.

Continue to pray for our student leadership team as they are completing plans for this Fall. We have many opportunities and we request discernment in following exactly where God wants us to be!

As always, we truly thank you for your prayers!

June 2016 - Praises & Prayer Requests

Praises at ACT UT

As the current school year comes to a close we have much to be thankful for at ACT UT. God has moved mightily both spiritually and in very tangible ways among our students.

We praise God for the ministry of Dave and Vicki Warner at ACT BG as they “repurpose.” Lives across this country have been changed as a result of the hand of God in their lives. Saying goodbye isn’t easy, but we know God has great things in store for them. It was a blessing for ACT UT to be able to share in many events with our brothers and sisters at BG this year. It was also a joy to join in as we lifted up the amazing ministry legacy of Dave and Vicki.

Prayer Requests at ACT UT

The school year has ended but ministry continues year round! Please pray for our weekly summer event “In the Woods with Jesus” which includes a campfire, devotional and games for students every Friday night all summer long. We are hoping this will be a great transitional “bridge” to our work when the Fall semester rolls around.

Pray for our students participating in “Rocket Launch.” Many days this summer our students will have a table set up to greet new students at the University of Toledo. It is a great opportunity to let them know about ACT and to find a safe “home away from home” at UT.

Students are already involved in summer jobs and ministry opportunities. ACT UT will participate in a mission trip the last week of June in West Virginia. The workcamp ministry “Brothers’ Keeper” based in Ripley, West Virginia helps disadvantaged families with basic construction and repair work in their homes. This includes building wheelchair ramps, porch construction, painting, drywall repair and more.

Please pray for Don Williams and his wife Michelle as they make the transition from Colorado to ministry his new position as the Campus Pastor at ACT BG. We have been excited to have their daughter Mariah involved in leadership at ACT UT so the ties between our ministries are strong and growing stronger every day!

Pray for our student leadership team as they have already begun working on plans for this Fall. We have many opportunities and we request discernment in following exactly where God wants us to be!

As always, we truly thank you for your prayers!
